Is it possible to make your dreams come true by thinking about them?
I’m a firm believer that you receive back what you put out into the world.
Of course, some people get a shit deal no matter how hard they try. But I think that if you put out good, good comes back to you.
Can you manifest the life you want?
I’ll tell you a story.
Several years ago, I was sad. Alone. Mourning the death of my husband. I never for one second believed I would find anyone I wanted to live my life with again.
After all, who gets to be loved whole-heartedly by someone as pure and lovely as my husband was? I just didn’t think it was possible.
I came to terms with that, and I decided. I would not look for a soul mate. I’d had one. There couldn’t be another.
What I decided was that I was just going to live my life as fully as possible and I was going to love and care for others without boundaries. I would accept people for who they are, without judgement.
After all, I wasn’t looking to get anything from anyone. I just wanted to be happy and, whenever possible, make others happy.
Then, I met someone and…well, we fell in love.
I didn’t understand why he was so accepting of me, my life, my choices, my goals - everything. He is more than I ever expected someone could be. Although different in many ways, he was like my husband - he accepted me and loved me unconditionally.
Impossible.
I asked him, “Why are you so good to me? Why are you so accepting of everything I am and everything I want?”
(And to be clear, I am a lot sometimes; I want a lot; and I am more than most men would want to live with.)
He said, “Because you’ve accepted me in ways that others never have.”
Those aren’t his exact words. But that’s the gist of it.
And what I realized was this: when I started loving and caring for the pure pleasure of it, when I stopped expecting a certain kind of relationship or a specific type of attention, I opened myself up to having exactly the relationship that I wanted.
So, yes, I believe you can manifest the life you want.
How?
Try some of these manifestation techniques:
#1 Know what you want
You can’t get what you want if you don’t even know what you want. Most people do not know what they really want. They bounce through life aimlessly, going from one desire to another.
If you think about it, though, there are things that matter to you more than others. And it might not be the things you think are important.
Once you figure out the general (“I want to be happy”) get specific. What will make you happy? Is it house security? Being surrounded by friends and family? Having children?
#2 Now ask yourself why you want what you want
This is important because knowing the why helps you determine how important that want is.
Once you examine the “why,” you might learn that what you thought you wanted isn’t really what you wanted.
For example, you might think you want children. But is having children what you really want or is being surrounded by loved ones what you want?
Spend some time thinking about why you want what you want? You might discover it is something else entirely you yearn for.
#3 Ask for it; expect it
If you want children and you’re going out with people who don’t, you will not have children. And if you do, they may come into a life that isn’t so great.
If you want a career in writing fiction, write fiction. Ask people to read it.
You must believe that you absolutely deserve to have what you want and you must be prepared to settle for nothing less.
#4 Believe
If you don’t believe you deserve to have what you want in your life, you will not get it.
Want to make a living as a writer of fiction novels? You’re never going to write that novel if you don’t believe you are capable of it. No one is going to read it if you don’t believe it is worth reading.
Put your trust and faith in yourself and your abilities. Live like you are already who you want to be.
#5 Live the life you want to have
I’ll use writing as an example again because many of us are writers and want to make a living from writing; this can apply to anything, though.
If you want to be a writer, live the life of a writer. What does that mean? It means you need to write! You can’t be a writer if you never put words on a page or if you let no one read what you wrote.
Need another example? If you want to own a nice house, treat the place you live right now as if it is your own house. Clean, do maintenance, decorate.
If you want to be healthy and you’re currently not - start living like a healthy person would live. Exercise. Eat quality food. See your doctor.
You can’t have the life you want until you build the practices it takes to live that life.
What else can you do?
Manifesting the life you want requires effort. You need to focus on yourself and know what you really want.
You can’t just live your life randomly waiting for things to happen to you and hope you get where you want to be. Be an active participant in your life.
SEE your life as it is and the way you want it to be.
VISUALIZE yourself in the life you want.
TAKE ACTION to get where you are going.
